A Virtual Tour of Kotte

This page hopes to take you on a virtual tour of the remains of Kotte.

We start our journey from the entrance to present day Atul Kotte ( which was it's northern entrance years ago) and proceed along the road to Pita Kotte, visiting the places of historical importance on the way.

Before that we look at the layout of the fortified city of Kotte using an old map of Kotte (from the guide book published by the Ministry of Cultural affairs), and a present day road map. This comparison shows the changes that have taken place in the layout of the city, very specially on the waterways and the marsh land that protected the city.
