Kotte - The Alakeshwara Road

The present day Alakeshwara road leads one to the tombs said to be of this great minister, who built the fortified city. To visit the tombs, turn left on to the Alakeshwara road and take the first left turn. This road leads you to the Tombs.

This is now a protected site of the Archeological Department. The palace of Minister Nissanka Alagakonnara has also been in the vicinity. No trace of it remains today. The picture shows the ramins known as the 'Alakeshwara Tombs'. (Note: The Alagakonnara clothes dryer in operation.)
